Social Media Manager (Part-Time)

5–10 hours/week to start
Hourly, based on experience

Hella Pinay is an independent media platform celebrating Filipina/o/x creative culture across digital publishing, podcasting, print, and community experiences. As we approach our 10-year anniversary, we're relaunching with a renewed editorial vision and are looking for a Social Media Manager to help bring the next chapter of Hella Pinay to life online.

We're looking for someone who genuinely understands internet culture, independent media, and the intersections of fashion, music, nightlife, art, and identity. This role is ideal for someone who is chronically online in the best way, has a strong eye for design, and understands how to translate editorial content into engaging social storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Hella Pinay's Instagram and support broader social initiatives

  • Create graphics and carousels in Canva that feel editorial and on-brand

  • Repurpose content from our website, Substack, podcast, and events into social content

  • Write captions in the Hella Pinay voice

  • Schedule and publish content

  • Assist with campaign rollouts around the relaunch, anniversary issue, podcast, and events

  • Monitor comments and DMs and engage with our community

  • Maintain a simple content calendar and stay organized across projects

  • Track basic analytics and identify what's resonating with our audience

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has strong graphic design skills, particularly in Canva

  • Understands editorial, fashion, music, and cultural media brands like i-D, Dazed, Paper, and The Gentlewoman

  • Has excellent writing and communication skills

  • Understands Filipino and diaspora culture and can authentically speak to our community

  • Is highly organized and proactive

  • Has an eye for aesthetics and understands how to make social content feel elevated and culturally relevant

  • Is excited about helping shape the next chapter of an independent media brand with a 10-year legacy

Bonus If You:

  • Have experience working with media brands, magazines, podcasts, or creative communities

  • Have experience with Substack, Later, and other scheduling tools

  • Have basic video editing skills for Reels and Stories

  • Have an interest in independent publishing, creative communities, and cultural storytelling

This role will start at approximately 5–10 hours per week, with opportunities to grow as Hella Pinay expands.
